Alliance Letter to Seema Verma on Innovation Center
In a letter to CMS Administrator Seema Verma, the Alliance explains that it is encouraged about the prospect of a new direction for the Innovation Center, given specialty physicians have faced ongoing difficulty in fostering alternative payment and delivery models in conjunction with agency partners. The Alliance urges the agency to consider additional guiding principles, among them, protecting beneficiary access to specialty medicine and emphasizing the use of specialty-developed quality measures and clinical data registries. In addition, the Alliance urges the new leadership to allow physicians and beneficiaries to enter into private contracts on a case-by-case basis, as well as engage in a dialogue with specialists to discuss ideas for how to improve their ability to participate in currently approved Advanced APMs.
