The Alliance of Specialty Medicine wrote to the bipartisan leadership of the US House and Senate expressing severe disappointment with the provisions addressing Medicare physician payment in the Fiscal Year 2023 Omnibus Appropriations bill. Congress failed to fully address the 4.47% cut to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) conversion factor and instead pushed only a 2.5% adjustment, resulting in a 2% overall cut to physicians. Congress also failed to address the systemic issues with the MPFS that lead to this annual issue.
