The Alliance of Specialty Medicine wrote a letter of support to the six bipartisan US House sponsors of H.R. 1876, the Supporting Good Samaritan Health Professionals Act. The three Republicans and three Democrats understand that many of the specialty physicians who volunteer their time and skills to respond in a time of crisis need to be afforded legal protection when they cross state lines to do so. H.R. 1876 would extend federal liability protections to licensed, certified or authorized health care professionals who volunteer for the purposes of responding to a disaster.
