The Alliance of Specialty Medicine sent a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Members of the Senate Finance Committee and both the Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce Committees urging updates to the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) to extend positive payment updates to the Medicare physician fee schedule, the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) “exceptional performance” bonus, and the 5% incentive payment for qualifying participants (QPs) in Advanced Alternative Payment Models (A-APMs). The Alliance continues to work with Congressional leaders to address additional technical modifications to MIPS and other aspects of the Quality Payment Program (QPP) to grow the participation of specialties in MACRA.
