The Alliance of Specialty Medicine responded to CMS’ proposals implementing Year 2 of the Quality Payment Program in formal comments submitted to CMS. Specialty physicians are generally appreciative of proposals that would maintain or expand a significant level of flexibility in the program, particularly for small practice; however, a number of challenges remain. Generally, the Alliance has urged CMS to consider the impact of the program on specialty and subspecialty providers, and to address a number of longstanding issues that have carried over from predecessor quality improvement programs. The Alliance looks forward to working with CMS and the Congress on improving the Quality Payment Program to ensure its sustainability over the long-term for physicians and beneficiaries, alike.
