On March 10th, the Alliance of Specialty Medicine sent a letter to every member of the House of Representatives highlighting concerns regarding the Senate approved health care reform bill and voicing opposition for the measure in its current form. The Alliance is concerned with health care reform proposals that would create an Independent Medicare Advisory Board, as it would focus solely on cutting costs and lack proper oversight and clinical expertise. Additionally, the Alliance urged Congress to address the Medicare physician reimbursement crisis with a fair and long-term reimbursement model. The letter also includes feedback on value-based purchasing language and provisions that cover quality, medical liability reform and physician ownership.
