The Alliance of Specialty Medicine has released the summer edition of its quarterly newsletter, On Call. In this issue, the Alliance takes the issue of Prior Authorization head-on and explains how it has become a barrier to specialty care for patients and why federal regulators and legislators are taking a new interest in reform. We also take a hard look at yet another raft of scheduled Medicare cuts specialty physicians are facing unless Congress acts by the end of the year.
On Call also features stories about two of our specialty medical societies: the American Society for Dermatological Surgery Association (ASDSA) and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA). The AGA just scored another big win for patient access to colorectal cancer screening, and the ASDSA has started an innovative approach to assist doctors interested in running for elected office.
