For the Spring edition of On Call, we feature two stories on private insurance companies abusing the prior authorization process to create unnecessary barriers to patient care.   Both gastroenterologists and cataract surgeons are dealing with prior authorizations for what is normally considered routine or preventative care.   Reform of the prior authorization process is something the Alliance has sought for many years and will be a main topic of conversation when we come back to Capitol Hill for the first time since the pandemic for an in-person advocacy fly-in, July 17-19.  This edition of On Call also highlights the very latest in equipment retina specialists are using to better diagnose and prescribe care.
